I would like to say a big thank you to whoever post this fix, because I had the problem of not being able to install Vista SP2 because it said there was missing components, not even Microsoft support could help me, but I install Vista Font Fix as I had already tried all the other instructions posted and I could install SP2 no problem. It's a shame Microsoft Support aren't that helpful could have saved me a lot of time, Thanks again :)

Microsoft deserves to be ripped off after releasing so much crap. I've been using their products since 97 and all of them but absolutely ALL of their products were unreliable pieces of junk, even Win. XP was one of them which needed about 25 additional kits of software and a bunch of recovery CD's just to make it operable for a past 3 months. Win 7 ultimate is no better, expensive piece of junk that is, doesn't recognize canon cameras, graphic tablets and any productivity hardware what so ever, (installing win 7 drivers seemed to be only time wasters) and the XP mode doesn't even work regardless to the fact that "readiness" software tells that it should. Screw you MicroLOO, from now on I'll use only pirated copy's of your crappy software, and I encourage other people to do so too and not get ripped off...

hi,I had issues and wanted to refresh by reinstalling Vista SP2. none of the above worked for me but I searched the registry for VistaSP2, removed about 10 or so and retried the insall from the big .exe download and it finally stopped saying it was already installed. Good luck! (ps the registry keys had to be set to either everyone and then deleted or taking ownership as administrator)

No podía instalar el sp2 por el error que se describe más abajo

me contacté telefonicamente con el soporte de MS y pude solucionarlo

va la solución que me funcionó

Inconveniente
*************

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=es&FamilyID=891ab806-2431-4d00-afa3-99ff6f22448d

go here peeps,

http://www.raymond.cc/blog/archives/2009/03/06/fix-blank-or-empty-list-in-vista-turn-windows-features-on-or-off-optionalfeaturesexe/

I flat out guarantee if you follow the instructions detailed on this blog it will solve your problems with a flaky XP, Vista, or even Win7 install….

I spent over 6 months chasing solutions, even Microsoft Techs are telling people a complete reinstall (fresh) is the only solution….

This is the only solution I have found that flat out works, it will also help you fix problems yo didn’t even know you had, LOL

Meh, what do I know….

Enjoy…

Laterzzzzzzz……….

This worked for me also! After a week of doing everything else suggested by all this is what gets it done SP2 is now installed. Thank you soooo much Raymond for the work and Baldy Feathers for the post with link!!!

I had problems installing Vista SP2 and tried some fixes off the Microsoft site that didn't work. I went to my other machine and downloaded SP2 to my desktop and burned it to CD. I then went back to my Vista PC and unplugged the wireless dongle and insalled from the CD without Internet connection. Worked a treat. Hope this is of some help to someone. regards.

Success,
I downloaded the SP2 file from Microsoft downloads then:
Rebbot in Safe mode and it installed from there.

Took about 20 minutes to instal after download.

Cheers
