this is no fix. i have the problem with the wireless driver i try to enable it and the network remains disabled. i took this patch and i was wise to make a restore point before doing this. at 75% instalation process i got bsod. i thought i was a random thing sort of...then i restored my os and and tried again. same bsod at the same time. next time i will buy a laptop i will be carefull to avoid the work of the broadcom team. this is a complete dissapointment. after a long period of complaining without a response from them, they release a fix that fixes your os for good. I will continue to use my laptop without wireless untill i find something will work.

have a nice day

Unfortunately for me it didn't work..

After I updated the driver and try to start the WLAN svs under Services>> WLAN AutoConfig Properties, I get error 1747: The authentication service is unknown.

Can only connect wired on the laptop...on other devices (like the PS3), wireless works fine.

I have an HP Pavilion dv5139us laptop
Upgraded from Win XP to Vista to 7 (32, Ultimate)
WRT54G Linksys router
Motorola Surfboard modem (model SB6120)

Any other suggestions? I'm glad it worked for some of you guys. :)

Thanks!

I still have the same problem, I had the dirver mentioned above (ver 5.10.79.7) My system is an Alienware m17x laptop quad-core 8 gig ram. I download the latest driver version from dell (recommended for win 7) (ver 5.30.21.0) but still no joy, this is getting really annoying, was working perfevtly before I upgraded from vista to win 7 (enterprise edition). Having search the net some say to reset the router I did, but didn't see why as all my other machines can see it no problem. Some others say to disable homegroup, didn't work either, if any one can shed light on this it would be great as I actually like using win 7. Lastly haven't found it yet but have microsoft themselves admitted to this problem.

I can't thank you enough for posting this comment. After searching on google why my wireless was being so awful under Win7 RC I came accross this website. A quick download and my wireless is now absolutely fantastic - as quick as ethernet with pings to the router averaging 1ms. (Contrary to the previous 100ms+ and constant timeouts)

Microsoft Update currently has version 4.x of the driver.

This version (5.x) will hopefully be on Microsoft Update soon. Until then this download is a brilliant fix to the problem.

Thanks again!
