Vista file copy is ABSOLUTELY the worst thing about the whole system. It does NOT work effectively, and this is OCTOBER 2009 when they have had ample time to sort it out (with Win7 coming in just weeks). Windows won't play properly with NON-WINDOWS boxes on the network - NAS, Linux, Mac, or even WinXP Home boxes. Vista to Vista copies are fine, but I wouldn't want to own Vista twice. It's nasty. For me file copying across my gigabit network with large frame support is SLOWER than copying the files to DVD and walking them to the next machine and then copying them back.
I for one won't be downgrading to the next Windows. I think it's time to throw MS out and buy an apple solution.

Microsofts " fixes " have not worked for me, on a new as -shipped Dell XPS.

The workaround was Terracopy...... using it I can transfer files reliably, and faster that the Vista file copy/move feature.

Overall, I have found Vista to be unacceptable for any real work. Perhaps Windows 7 will be an improvement. Maybe the Gods at microsoft will think about those of us who paid for Vista Ultimate, believing we were getting a superior product, when they give out free upgrades to Win 7.
